WAND Member of the Month

Outstanding Contributions: Fern has led the Southeast Michigan WAND chapter for many years, and serves as the treasurer for the WAND Inc. national board.
How long have you been a member of WAND?
I've been a member since 1992 when I retired from teaching math.
Why did you decide to join WAND?
I heard Helen Caldicott (the founder of WAND) speak, and I had to join!
What is your favorite WAND activity or memory?
There are so many - let me list three. Weekend with Granny D, weekend with Nira Schwartz (whistleblower on missile defense), and our Get Out the Vote campaign.
What do you like to do outside of WAND?
I sit on the Southfield School Board and the local board of the National Council of Jewish Women. I love to sing, and I love going to the opera.
