There are many ways for you to take action on vital peace and security issues! Below are some helpful tips and suggestions. Be sure to sign up for our E-News to receive our timely action alerts and news updates!

Online Action Center

You can take action in the easiest way possible! All you have to do is click here, select the action you would like to take, and fill out this short form. When filling out the form, you will be prompted to enter your zip code. Using the information you provide, there will be an automatically generated letter on your behalf that will be sent to your members of U.S. Congress. The website does the hard part. All you need to do is provide your zip code and a few other details. If you want to, you can then customize the letter.

Meet With Your Members of Congress in Person

Setting up an in-person meeting with your members of U.S. Congress is one of the best ways to make sure your voice is heard! An in-person meeting will allow you the chance to convey your message more personally than you could via phone or email.

There a few things to remember when asking your U.S. Senators or U.S. Representative for a meeting. Send a written request for a meeting via fax, e-mail, or snail mail. View a sample letter here. Aim to send your request about 30 days in advance of when you’d like to meet. Note that many meeting requests are made during each recess. If you can be flexible with your time availability, that will be helpful. A few days after you submit your request, follow up with a phone call to the person to whom you sent it. Be prepared to provide the letter requesting a meeting again and to provide additional contact information (like a cell phone) in case there are last minute scheduling changes.

Call Your Senators

Tell your U.S. Senators what matters to you and your community! Contact DC Senate offices during business hours (9-5 Eastern Time). You can use the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. You might have to call more than once. If you can’t get through to the DC office, try the local state offices.

Write an Op-Ed or a Letter to the Editor
